Cheryl Richards

The goal is to create a sense of a place...not a photograph

Art for Cheryl began in primary school where she was lucky to have those early works recognized by teachers and peers.   However, her university training led her along another artistic path, a BSc degree with majors in nutrition and fabric.

Designing her own one-of-a-kind fashion forward outfits prepared her for the tailored coats and jackets, wedding gowns, prom gowns, Halloween mermaids and skating outfits that she crafted for her children and more recently her grandchildren.

Upon retirement from two family businesses, Cheryl knew that creating her own original art was on her bucket list....the year was 2000, and her teacher was Sandi Komst.

Original art...she had always wanted to learn the secret to those beautiful qualities found in many watercolours...those lost and found edges, the light highlighted by the dark....that "dreamy feeling".

Her long journey through learning introduced to her some of the best artists in their field:  Watercolourists, Sandi Komst, Bryna Atyeo, Mel Stabin, Arnie Westerman, Alvaro Castagnet & Stephen Quiller.  Acrylic and Collage by Bryan Atyeo, Stephen Quiller, Mike Svob.

Trying to capture that impressionist feeling is her goal.

Cheryl ventures on...her time painting in all mediums gives her great pleasure and is like a relaxing little pill.  Creating the magical Island landscapes, seascapes...the flora and fauna,  cityscapes and some uptown savvy.
