Reflecting her Island roots, Julea Boswell’s fresh and contemporary abstract paintings are awash with expressions of weather, water and wildflowers. A former dance artist, the lyrical beauty and energy of nature is evident in the joyful sense of movement in her work. She divides her time between Frenchfort, PEI (May-Oct) and Ottawa, Ontario (Nov-April).
Julea's identity as an artist was formed in childhood when dance, visual art, music and theatre all played a part in her creative endeavours. Her multifaceted career began in dance and then moved into marketing and management roles, including in arts and culture with the City of Ottawa and in performing arts as general manager with award-winning Propeller Dance Company. During that time she mastered modern quilt design and art quilts as forms of artistic expression. Julea began painting again in 2015 and has since staged four solo art exhibitions, earned representation with three galleries, and hopes to complete her BFA in Visual Art in 2022. She holds a Dipl. in Theatre (Dance) and an MBA.
