From the Garden

One of the enjoyable aspects of paper making is creating different colors and textures. By adding seeds, flower petals, moss and chunkier fibers, the smooth pulps embrace these “inclusions” and as the pulp dries it forms a limitless variety of interesting layers of texture.

After a few years of experimentation I have cultivated small gardens filled with the flowers and seeds that work in my papers. Among the all time favorites are Joe Pye Weed, sunflowers, Black eyed Susan, strawflowers and Liatris.
